Katerina Chatzopoulou

Scenographer, Costume Designer, Visual Artist, and Fabricator

Katerina Chatzopoulou was born in Volos, Greece. She studied Scenography and Costume Design at the Department of Theatre, School of Fine Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.), where she was awarded three scholarships for her academic excellence.

She has also taken courses and seminars in painting, music, and dance, enriching her artistic vocabulary. In addition, she completed a one-year certification program at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) titled: Special Education and Training: Diagnostic, Therapeutic, and Counseling Approaches.

Since 2004, she has collaborated as a scenographer, costume designer, assistant, and fabricator with various directors, theatre groups, and producers, including A. Kafetzopoulos, K. Kazana, S. Panailidou, F. Lytras, G. Kakleas, S. Tzitzis, V. Skarmoutsos, G. Polanska, and S. Stagko.

 

Her partnerships extend to institutions and ensembles such as the Municipal and Regional Theatres (DIPETHE) of Kalamata, Roumeli, and Volos, the National Theatre of Northern Greece (NTNG), the Greek National Opera, the Municipalities of Nikaia-Rentis and Moschato, Hippo Theatre Group,

 

AleaJactaEst, Myia Theatre Group, Paracoon, Adrahti Ensemble, Choroekfrasi, and production companies including Disney, Faliro House Productions, Amazon, and Argonauts Productions.

Her work has been showcased in a wide range of venues, including:

  • Municipal Theatre of Volos

  • Palaia Ilektriki (Volos)

  • Michael Cacoyannis Foundation

  • Hellenic Cosmos Cultural Center

  • Veaki Theatre

  • Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (New York City)

  • National Theatre of Northern Greece

  • Olvio Theatre, Faust Theatre, Vault Theatre, 104 Theatre,

as well as in numerous schools across Europe, the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Additionally, she has worked as a scenographer, costume designer, and fabricator in advertising, music videos, photoshoots, and both short and feature films, earning a First Prize for Artistic Direction for her work.
