Review of Karmantilos
(August 5, 2012)

The play’s storyline is highly inventive.
The characters are fully developed.
The plot is captivating.
Nikos Tsiotsios delivers a masterclass in writing theater for children — crafting a generous text in the sense that Roland Barthes described: a text that is open-hearted, expansive toward both young and adult audiences, rich in meaning, and encouraging deeper reflection and commentary on complex cultural themes. At the same time, it dares to wager on its own timelessness.
It is a piece of writing with immense potential — potential that the directors of the Hippo Theatre Group deeply respected, and for that very reason, elevated to new heights.
Their direction shows both maturity and an endless well of acting energy.
We are in real need of such high-quality contributions to the theater scene today.
Audiences will leave not only entertained but also uplifted. Their "communication" with this aesthetic experience will have only just begun.
