The Adventures of Pav

Trailer 2017- The Adventures of Pav

The Adventures of Pav
The play is based on the children's book “Pav, the Off-Key Cicada and the Adventure with the Blind Ants” by Fotis Dousos (published by Mikri Selini), which was shortlisted for both the Anagnostis Magazine Award and the Greek IBBY (Children's Book Circle) Award.
It is a musical comedy featuring an unpredictable plot, fast-paced action, quick-witted dialogue, and layered meaning. The performance is grounded in physical theatre techniques, placing strong emphasis on the expressive use of body and voice.
The central theme of the play is self-awareness.
Following the performance, a short theatre workshop is offered, inspired by techniques of Drama in Education. Through a series of theatrical activities—including improvisations, movement, and vocal games—children are invited into an imaginative world where they re-experience parts of the story and create alternative solutions to the dilemmas they encountered. The goal of the workshop is to connect children with their emotional world and help them reconnect with deeper aspects of their psyche and personality.
Synopsis
Pav is a cicada born into a family of great singers—but he, unfortunately, sings terribly. At his concerts, the angry audience throws vegetables instead of clapping. In hopes of improving, Pav visits a music teacher named Lykaon. But the teacher refuses to help him unless he is paid handsomely: he demands the golden grain, found far away in Africa.
Thus begins a grand adventure for Pav, filled with strange encounters: the grumpy geese, a lion with a moth-eaten mane, the rebellious tsetse flies, the carnivorous flowers, and of course—the terrifying blind ants.
Will the little cicada manage to find the golden grain and pay his teacher?
Does the golden grain even exist?
