Children’s Theatre Workshop
Approaching the Role with Depth and Consistency

For many years, theatre for children was not properly recognized within the broader context of the performing arts. However, in recent years, it has increasingly emerged as a distinct theatrical genre—with its own aesthetic, expressive codes, and unique demands. This development reflects a growing understanding of the special role children’s theatre can play both artistically and educationally.
While its importance in nurturing children’s imagination, empathy, and creativity is now more widely acknowledged, specialized training in this field remains limited. In Greece, children’s theatre has not yet been systematically integrated into the curricula of drama schools.
As a result, many actors find themselves working in this genre without the necessary guidance or preparation, relying instead on their general theatrical training, personal judgment, and instinct. This workshop seeks to fill that gap by offering tools and guidance that can meaningfully support actors as they engage with children's theatre.
In this seminar, we propose a set of practical and theoretical tools designed to help actors approach their roles in children’s theatre with imagination, effectiveness, and artistic integrity. Drawing on our long-standing experience in this field, we aim to equip participants with valuable skills and techniques to meet the particular challenges and requirements of the genre.
