Hippo Theatre Group presents the interactive, environmentally-themed theatrical performance titled “Yannis and the Pine Tree”, based on the poem “The Curse of the Pine Tree” by Zacharias Papantoniou, aiming to raise children's awareness on issues related to environmental education.

We use Papantoniou’s poem as a canvas for building a story that gradually unfolds with the active participation of the children. The performance incorporates educational drama techniques (such as Reflection, Hot Seat, etc.), movement-based games, guided improvisations, storytelling, and dramatization of scenes.

The program places emphasis on values such as respect and love for nature, while also highlighting the need for a clean environment and the importance of recycling. In older times, people believed that the world was a jewel — and that is exactly what we want to remind our young friends who will take part in this program.
