The Crab and the Fox

Trailer from the Greek theatre workshop with students of the Plakias Elementary public school, Chania, Greece
Hippo Theatre Group presents the interactive theatrical program The Crab and the Fox, inspired by the fable of the same name by Aesop.
The Crab and the Fox tells the story of a curious crab who longs to explore the world. Using Aesop’s fable as a starting point, we have created a drama-in-education experience focused on the theme of venturing into the unknown, aiming to stimulate imagination and boost the self-confidence of the participants.
Drama-in-education is a structured learning process that employs theatrical methods and techniques to create a safe environment where emotional engagement and cognitive processing are encouraged. Children express themselves through the language of theatre, take on roles, interact with one another, activate their potential, collaborate, and make decisions.
Workshop Objectives:
-
Aesthetic development
-
Enhancement of emotional intelligence
-
Strengthening of self-confidence
-
Encouraging spontaneity through physical and verbal expression
-
Fostering cooperation and dialogue
-
Promoting teamwork and creative engagement
-
Stimulating children's imaginative thinking
Children will embark on a rich and unforgettable experience—a multi-faceted journey through the world of imagination. Through a creative and entertaining process, they spend their time meaningfully, with the ultimate goal of gaining insight into themselves and the world around them.
The program has been successfully presented in Athens and Chania, as well as in Greek communities in California, New Jersey, and Melbourne.
Maximum number of participants: 25
The workshop can be delivered either as a one-hour educational session or in the form of a 3-to-6-day camp, depending on the needs of each school, organization, or group.
